Storytelling | Mental health lived experience and the systems we navigate

Mental illness is a significant public health crisis that disproportionately impacts BIPoC communities due to structural racism. As part of the CHBC Mental Health System and Policy Work, we are creating a series of roundtable discussions with community members, professionals, and researchers to unpack the causes of mental health issues rooted in structural racism that the COVID-19 pandemic has intensified. Through these discussions, we have an opportunity to learn from one another and collectively pave the way to holistic healing.

Join us on June 24th, 2021, to engage in a conversation with community members with mental health lived experiences. When we talk about people with mental health lived experience, we mean people living with mental illness (sometimes called consumers) and family or friends supporting someone living with mental illness (sometimes called carers). From the stories and the discussion that will ensue, our goal is to derive common themes, call out any structural violence faced by our storytellers, and ways to heal and affect the system.

This event is open to everyone, so please share with your networks and consider attending.
